etcetera; Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume One errata

the etcetera being i finally started and completed a pair of socks! but wait, not one pair, but two!

i used silvers tutorial to get the hang of knitting socks toe up, two at once using magic loop method. I love this method because i get them both done at once, and (ideally) they are the same size :) I need to keep track of how many rows each heel is to be more exacting, but so far so good! here is my first pair, the changes i made to them from the tutorial, i added a 2 x 2 ribbing to the instep and cuff, ending with a 1 x 1 ribbing, and this stretchy bind off.

These are done in one skein of dream in color classy, 'cool fire'. worsted weight. Knit Picks size 7 US circulars

the second pair are for my niece's fourth birthday (check it out - four hearts for her fourth birthday! ) these are again, 2 toe ups, 2 at a time on KP 7US circular. this time, the yarn is artyarns supermerino in color 110, a sort of magenta and violet yarn. very girly and pretty! i used one skein for these too.

the eyelet hearts lace is from Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume One. It is stitch n0. 145 on page 97. there is an error in the pattern though. (please, correct me if i am wrong though.)

row 9 reads: K1, K2TOG, *YO, K9, YO, SL1 K2TOG PSSO; rep from *, end rep SKP, K1.

the red is the error, it should just be a SL1 K1 PSSO (SKP). good thing i figured it out! not bad for someone who has only been knitting for 5 months, huh? ;)

enjoy! more FO's up next!

Tks for the adivce on silver's turtorial site.

I m thinking of learning to knit 2 socks at a same time to avoid different size/length.

  3. Well done spotting that error! I've tried three patterns in that book so far, and all three have had fatal errors in them. Hello editors, errata please?

  4. Was looking up "Vogue Stitchionary errata" and found your post. Though it's quite old, thought I'd comment. The sl 1-k2tog-psso is not an error. It closes the three stiches at the top of the center diamond to a point. Since you only did 1/2 the repeats, you didn't have the diamonds and needed to follow the end instructions after the last yo-- end rep SKP, K1...which is what you did on your own.

    Pretty socks!
